West Green
|
|
West Green is a well-maintained triangulated parcel with a tree at either end and a sign in the center identifying the site. It is bounded by West Street on the west, Hillside Road (a one way street) on the north and east. The streetscape is equally nondescript. At either end is a convenience store. St. John's Church is situated at the southern end but is oriented toward Gold Star Memorial Green. Across Hillside Road is a low-lying plain upon which A.N. Pierson's greenhouses can be seen in the distance next to Valour Green. Only the 19th century buildings along West Street give any indication that the open space in front of them might have historic significance, but they have undergone some alterations.
