Goshen

The green at Goshen is located on the east side of State Route 63, adjacent to the Municipal Complex. The rectangular quarter-acre greensward is well defined by State Route 63 to the west, Town Hall to the north, the Municipal Center driveway to the south, and a parking lot to the east. Within this space, a separate lawn panel is raised above ground. Rectangular granite blocks define the edges of the panel. The granite was taken from the Scoville Carriage Factory, which was once located nearby. Within the raised grass panel are three war memorials, a flagpole, and a state historical marker. The 1947 World War II memorial is in the center of the raised area. To the left of the World War II memorial is a 1919 World War I memorial, and to the right is a memorial to Korean and Vietnam War veterans. All monuments are bronze plaques set within stone panels.

The edges of the green are heavily planted with maple, crabapple, cherry, and evergreen trees. A dense shrub mass lies to the north of the raised panel and a "Goshen Town Offices" sign stands in the southwest corner near the street. Nineteenth-century farmhouses line the street opposite the green. The Town Hall building was constructed in 1936 as Center School, and was converted to its present use in 1969.
