Nichols Farm Green

Nichols Farm Green, located within the Nichols Farm National Register Historic District, is a triangular-shaped greensward at the intersection of Huntington Turnpike and Shelton Road. Mature shade trees line the roads and form the northern border between the green and the United Methodist Church (1961) to the north. Along Huntington Turnpike is a sidewalk. In the center is a flagpole and to the south of it is an evergreen. Near the southern tip is a small concrete monument with the words, "Town of Trumbull - 1797." North of it is the only memorial; a large boulder with two bronze plaques honoring soldiers who fought in World Wars One and Two.

Along the east side of the green are several well-preserved 19th century residences. On the west side is a farm upon which is sited a house in the Italianate style built c. 1850. It is the last of the farms in the Nichols Farm area to remain open land. It has been operated by the Nichols Improvement Association as a public park since 1951, the very group responsible for the creation of the green. Its offices are in the house. As a result, the west side of the green remains relatively open. To the north, shielded by large trees but still evident from the green, is the red brick Methodist Church.
